What it does

“Use when building bots.”
The author's description, from SKILL.md

Generated summary from the skill's own text

This skill guides agents through designing bots that interact with Zoom meetings by joining sessions, capturing media, or responding to live data. It covers bot architecture decisions, meeting join strategies, real-time media handling, and backend integration patterns. The skill connects agents to core implementations via Meeting SDK, RTMS, REST APIs, and webhooks.

When to use it

  • Building bots that join or observe Zoom meetings
  • Capturing transcripts or media during live sessions
  • Designing meeting automation with event-driven backends
  • Routing bots through Marketplace app models

When not to

  • Batch processing recorded meetings after the fact
  • Implementing simple REST API calls without bot logic

Install

These commands install from the publisher's repository and need no account.

skills CLI

npx skills add zoom/zoom-plugin-codex --skill build-zoom-bot

Installs from the repository's default branch, which may have changed since the commit we checked.

1. Download that folder at exactly this commit. Do not use the default branch.
2. Copy every file unchanged, keeping the folder structure, into .claude/skills/build-zoom-bot/ for Claude Code and .agents/skills/build-zoom-bot/ for Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode. Create the folders if they do not exist.
3. Do not edit the files, and do not run any script in the folder unless I ask you to.
4. When you are done, list the files you copied and where you put them.

# /build-zoom-bot

Use this skill for automation that joins meetings, captures media, or reacts to live session data.

## Covers

- Bot architecture
- Meeting join strategy
- Real-time media and transcript handling
- Backend orchestration
- Storage, post-processing, and event flow design

## Workflow

1. Clarify whether the bot needs to join, observe, transcribe, summarize, or act.
2. Select the Marketplace app model for Meeting SDK, Meeting/Webinar RTMS, or Contact Center Voice RTMS before implementation.
3. Route to Meeting SDK and RTMS as the core implementation path.
4. Add REST API for meeting/resource management and Webhooks for asynchronous events when needed.
5. Call out environment and lifecycle constraints early.

## Common Mistakes

- Treating batch transcription and live media as the same workflow
- Designing the bot before defining join authority and auth model
- Forgetting post-meeting storage and retry behavior
