What it does

“Prepare, execute and verify authorized Fusion CAD changes using resolved entities, explicit units and state-bound plans. Use for reviewed parameter, sketch, feature, assembly or configuration operations.”
The author's description, from SKILL.md

Generated summary from the skill's own text

This skill enables authorized modifications to Fusion CAD designs by preparing operations with resolved entities and explicit units, executing changes with idempotency keys under existing grants, and verifying outcomes through numerical postconditions. It handles parameter updates, sketches, features, assemblies and configurations while preserving parametric history and respecting configuration constraints.

When to use it

  • Modifying CAD parameters, sketches, or features in Fusion designs
  • Updating assemblies or configurations with reviewed changes
  • Executing offset planes, sweeps, lofts, drafts, mirrors or splits
  • Applying authorized design changes with full operation inspection

When not to

  • Converting parametric geometry to direct mode
  • Editing generated configurations or external sources
  • Performing bulk writes across multiple systems without inspection

Install

These commands install from the publisher's repository and need no account.

skills CLI

npx skills add openai/community-plugins --skill edit-fusion-design

Installs from the repository's default branch, which may have changed since the commit we checked.

GitHub CLI 2.90 or later

gh skill install openai/community-plugins edit-fusion-design@62844ca1cd865b76c7fed7180fc1ffef16e9167b

Installs the commit we checked (62844ca).

Copy by hand

Download the folder at 62844ca and put it in .claude/skills/edit-fusion-design for Claude Code and in .agents/skills/edit-fusion-design for Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode.

1. Download that folder at exactly this commit. Do not use the default branch.
2. Copy every file unchanged, keeping the folder structure, into .claude/skills/edit-fusion-design/ for Claude Code and .agents/skills/edit-fusion-design/ for Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode. Create the folders if they do not exist.
3. Do not edit the files, and do not run any script in the folder unless I ask you to.
4. When you are done, list the files you copied and where you put them.

---

Inspect the selected document and exact operation schema. Resolve design intent, units, frame, occurrence context and configuration. Generated configuration instances and external sources are not implicitly editable.

Prepare one operation with `fusion_changes_prepare`; review inputs, effects, state and policy blockers. Execute the unchanged hash with a unique idempotency key under the existing scoped grant. Prepare dependent operations only after inspecting the previous result. Parameter batches have documented local atomicity; feature sequences and cross-system writes do not.

Preserve driving constraints and parametric history. Never convert to direct mode, break references, fetch latest versions or interrupt an active command as a convenience.

For offset planes, sweep, loft, draft, split-body and mirror, read the [CAD feature contracts](../../docs/cad-features.md). Keep native geometry in one editable component, explicit cut/intersect participants, ordered loft sections and exact sweep-path membership. Mirror creates separate bodies; split does not preserve unsplit originals. Draft's optional tangent/symmetric flags expand its effect and must be part of the reviewed request. Reinspect changed construction planes or axes before using their handles.

Verify meaningful numerical postconditions and feature health. Reinspect stale state. For partial/unknown outcomes, inspect receipts and the model before any new write; never blindly replay. `fusion_recovery_prepare` does not silently undo user work.

Saving is a separate cloud effect. Unsupported variants stay explicit. Assisted native tools require their separate broad grant and have different guarantees. See [workflow](../../README.md).
